Concert : Kenny Garrett – Sounds from the ancestors / Géraldine Laurent & Laurent de Wilde
Le Grand Angle 6 rue du Moulinet 38500 Voiron
About
The most Coltrane-esque of alto saxophonists will set the festival audience ablaze. "Kenny Garrett" will present the repertoire from his latest album, "Sounds From the Ancestors".
An album that, from its opening track, evokes the specter of Coltrane and his composition "Equinox," projected into a Caribbean rhythmic universe. The sound of all the ancestors, in short. It also touches on Art Blakey, to whom Garrett pays homage, as well as to the immensely missed Roy Hargrove.
A musician of immense generosity and unalterable flamboyance over time, Miles Davis' last saxophonist is above all a true stage animal who, at each live performance, manages to move as much as to make people dance.
Concert organized as part of the 15th edition of the Voiron Jazz Festival.
