Malcolm Potter, an atypical Franco-British artist, double bassist, singer and author/composer, comes to present his new album "We need to talk" (InOuïe Distribution) in a preview!
Malcolm Potter's voice is often compared to those of Sting, Harry Connick Jr., and Jamie Cullum, to name just a few. His approach to music is infused with an unusual combination of elements: in addition to his English heritage, this atypical artist is both a singer and a double bassist. This gives his music a rare sound; it's pop, played by jazz musicians, and evokes a range of unexpected emotions. While his creations draw on a shared cultural heritage, from the Beatles to Stevie Wonder, from Chet Baker to Jacob Collier, nothing limits his imagination, his spontaneity, or that of his musicians. He blends all these characteristics with fluidity, meticulousness, and experience.
After playing primarily jazz for the past 20 years, he's forging a new and original path, a personal and unique pop soundscape, dressed in jazz codes and colors but always accessible, captivating, and open. A writer of bold and impulsive lyrics, Malcolm Potter invites you to join him on this sensory journey that combines pleasure and open-mindedness.
Malcolm Potter has recorded numerous albums under his own name, ten to date, and also for other artists, sometimes as arranger, producer and artistic director in addition to the role of musician.
The show consists of compositions and rearrangements of great standards from the latest albums with Malcolm Potter (vocals, double bass), Dan Dumon (guitars), Christophe Blond (keyboards), Erwan Bonin (drums).
