About Us
By Robin Brigand, engineer in the Department of Underwater and Submarine Research. Conference organised by the Archaeological Museum of Lake Paladru and the DRASSM, in connection with the exhibition Boats Underwater, Archaeology of Submerged Sites.
A specialist in Neolithic pile dwellings in Alpine lakes, Robin Brigand offers here a synthesis of research devoted to these unique archaeological sites. Interpreted as settlements established on vast dry areas and equipped with raised floors to cope with seasonal variations in lake levels, these habitats continue to attract interest due to the wealth of their documentation, essential to understanding prehistoric societies.
