About

With Amélie Berthon, PhD in medieval archaeology, engineer at Éveha, associate researcher at Craham, University of Caen. We will try to bring objects back to life to understand life in a fortified site in the Alps between the 11th and 14th centuries.

Beyond the walls and moats, archaeology allows us to access the people who frequented these fortified settlements, whether sporadically or permanently. But what can these objects tell us about daily life? Between clichés and scientific caution, it is often difficult to interpret these material remains, frequently broken and corroded, which rarely correspond to our preconceived notions of life in a fortress or an elite site.
