What if you could witness history unfold for an evening? More specifically, the Night of August 4, 1789… That summer, the regime was on its last legs. The state was chronically in deficit.
The rich evade taxes, and the people have had enough. They demand justice but see no action. The country seems paralyzed, at the mercy of a chaotic climate. But that night in Versailles, everything changes…
The power of the words and the actors' performances carries us to the heart of the issues which, almost 240 years later, still speak to us.
Organized as part of the Livres à vous Festival. Bertrand Guillot, whose text forms the basis of this extraordinary show, will be a guest of the festival.
