On stage, a tree surrounded by stumps, animal masks and three performers. The "Land of Trees" has become a desert, in which only one tree remains.
There lives a woodcutter who no longer logs because there are no more trees to cut. A spineless child arrives wearing a wooden corset too small for the woman she is becoming. One needs to live that the woodcutter cuts the tree. The other knows that if he cuts down the tree, the ghost trees from the forest he has decimated will come and kill him.
