The climb to the Blue Lake, the 5th largest natural lake in France of glacial origin

Let's go for a trip to Lac de Paladru! You can fill up there
of history by discovering its remains from Antiquity and the Middle Ages. Take your bike to reach Moirans from La Belle Via. Discover the Romanesque church of Saint Pierre and its stained glass windows by Arcabas, then the inn of the Pâris brothers. The latter became financiers at the court of Louis XIV, the Sun King.
Then find the small country roads. Stay vigilant when crossing the bridge over the D1085. Then continue between farms and walnut trees and gradually climb up to Apprieu, crossing Saint-Cassien, La Murette and Saint-Blaise-du-Buis.
Beautiful landscapes with views of the plain and the mountains in the distance await you, particularly after Moirans or when leaving La Murette.
Continue to Charavines. You have already arrived at the famous Lac de Paladru! Follow the lake along the cycle path.
Also visit its exceptional archaeological museum and continue your journey, if you wish, to the Grange Dimière (6 km), a summer exhibition venue and former outbuilding of the Carthusians.
To enjoy its blue waters even more, stay in accommodation next to the lake and return the next day to find La Belle Via.

Let’s go for a trip to Lac de Paladru! You can soak up some history there by discovering its remains from Antiquity and the Middle Ages. This excursion starts from the Rocky Pop hotel in downtown Grenoble, rue de Strasbourg. Leave the hotel on your left, then turn right onto Rue Beccaria, join Boulevard Maréchal Lyautey and turn right. Take the cycle path, continue along Boulevard d'Auguste Sembat, go along Place Victor Hugo, continue straight on Boulevard Edouard Rey. At the end of the boulevard turn left. At the traffic lights, cross the intersection with the utmost caution as it is very busy. Turn left onto the Porte de France bridge. Take the time to look to the right, in front of you the Belledonne range stands as well as the iconic Grenoble cable car. Cross the bridge, turn left onto the cycle path, which takes you directly to La Belle Via. Here you are on Le Belle Via towards Moirans. There are no difficulties to note, you benefit from a flat route on a secure dedicated site. Follow the Isère and the foothills of the Vercors for 17,8 km, at the intersection turn right onto the Isère road, you cross the motorway. Drive on this small country road for 2,78 km, you will arrive at a roundabout. Take the second lane on the right onto rue Roger du Marais. You cross a residential area of ​​Moirans and after about 900m you arrive at a level crossing. Be careful when crossing the railway tracks. At the end of the street, cross the intersection straight on to rue d'Alboussière, cross place Charles de Gaulles, continue for a few meters, the town hall is on your right. At the intersection in front of Pl. from the Departmental Assembly, turn right until the next intersection rue de la République. Turn left onto Rue de la République. From Rue de la République, continue straight on Rue du 8 Mai 1945, continue at the intersection (parking on your right) turn left towards Rue de la République, all directions still on Rue du 8 Mai 1945. Take a left onto Rue des Ouvriers Papetiers, stay in the right lane for 240 m then stay in the right lane to take Avenue Louis Moyroud /D12C. From here the efforts begin, and the slopes become increasingly steep, reaching up to 10% in short sections. Continue on the D12c for 2,6 km. You arrive at the intersection between the Lorenzi road and the Moirans road, leave the D12c by turning right onto the Moirans road for 900 m you arrive on the Olon Infantry Regiment road. Cross the bridge and turn left onto Chemin de Manguely for 630 m, at the intersection continue straight on Rue de Baconnière for 400 m. You arrive at the intersection of three roads. Take a right onto the Lézardières road then immediately left onto the Très Fonds road. Continue on this road for 1m on the way you will cross the A650 motorway. At the end of the Chemin de Tréfonds, turn right onto the Chemin de la Rapillère for 500 m once you have passed over the railway line, you are now on the Chemin des Moulins. You arrive at an intersection. Take a slight right onto the Chartreuse road for 17m then be careful to cross the road and take the Chemin du Lavoir for 400m, continue on the Chemin du Marais for 750m. Take the Chemin de l'Etang on the left. At the first intersection, stay on the Chemin de l'Etang, you take a left turn. At the next intersection, always stay on the path and turn right. At the last intersection, take the Chemin de Bavonne on the right. Drive on this path for 300m, turn slightly left then right you pass in front of a cross another 350m and you take the path of the good stick. Please note that on a short section the slope is 11%. Drive to a roundabout. Here you are at La Murette. At the roundabout, turn right at the fourth intersection onto Route de la Gare, drive 600m passing Rue du Bourg, you will arrive at an intersection. Turn left onto Route du Pin/D12B and continue for 1,5 km. You enter the village of Saint Blaise du Buis. In the village at the intersection between the D12b on which you are located (the road is now called the Route de la Murette) of the Route de Réaumont on your left and the montée des Essarts de Bonjean, turn right onto the montée des Essarts de Bonjean. Continue on this road until the intersection with the Petit Voye road, then take the Planche Cattin road straight on towards Rte de Charavines/D50 for 2,3 km. You arrive at the intersection of the D50 Charavines road. Stay alert as the road is busy. Turn right and cross to find the Planche Cattin road on your left there is a boat parking lot. Here the section that you will encounter is not easy with slopes of 7% to 8%. Continue on Rte de Planche Cattin for 110 m then turn right onto Rte de l'Usine for 230 m, turn right again to find Rte de Planche Cattin. After 600m, turn completely right onto Rue de la Croix Vanel. Go up 130 m (the slope is 7%) to the roundabout. Take the first exit on the right onto Route du Rivier. Continue straight at the first roundabout, take the first exit, until the next intersection, turn left onto rue du Tarn for 250m. At the intersection, take the road to Lyon completely to the right, drive to the roundabout. Take the third exit on the right onto the Planbois road, drive on this small country road for 3,8 km until reaching the town of Charavines. You are getting there. Take a left onto the D50 (main street of Charavines) be careful, then take a slight right onto the rue des Tisserands for 600m; the start of the street is without difficulty then the slope rises to 7%. Continue on your way, turn left onto rue de la caserne, 350 m later turn right onto rue des peupliers, continue onto rue cure and Bennes. Then turn left onto rue de Colletière. 110 m later turn left again onto rue des Vannes, at the roundabout take the first exit on the right onto montée de Bilieu, you will have already arrived at the famous Lac de Paladru! Follow the lake by taking the cycle path along the Bilieu road for 8,85 km. Visit the exceptional archaeological museum and continue your journey, if you wish, to the Grange Dimière (6 km), a summer exhibition venue and former outbuilding of the Carthusians.
