The Pays Voironnais and the Vals du Dauphiné are joining forces to offer you a 42 km itinerary on the Via Sancti Martini. This route, to be completed in two days, will take you from station to station, from Pont-de-Beauvoisin to Val-de-Virieu.

A journey to the heart of history

This historic path invites you to follow in the footsteps of Saint Martin, a great traveler known for his iconic gesture of sharing, when he offered part of his coat to a destitute person. This tour offers you the opportunity toexplore varied landscapes, while discovering the cultural and natural heritage of the region.

In the footsteps of Saint-Martin: between Pays Voironnais and Vals du Dauphiné

Set off on an adventure on a 42 km route, linking Chartreuse to the Vals du Dauphiné, in the footsteps of Saint Martin, bishop of Tours in the 4th century and universal symbol of sharing. This great European route, the Via Sancti Martini, connects Szombathely, Saint Martin's birthplace in Hungary, to Tours, where he rests, for a 2500 km journey across Europe.

The Pays Voironnais and the Vals du Dauphiné offer you a route from station to station (Pont-de-Beauvoisin to Val-de-Virieu) to be done over 2 days.

The Via Sancti Martini crosses the Isère from Pontcharra to Vienne, with a Savoyard section passing through Corbel. In blue on the map, here is the portion crossing the Pays Voironnais. The markings for the Via Sancti Martini are marked by two strokes of red and green paint or by the step of Saint Martin which symbolizes the gesture of sharing.
