Grégor et moi is the latest creation in progress by choreographer Joseph Aka. It is a choreographic piece for a dancer and a countertenor, inspired by The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
Grégor Samsa works as a salesman to support his parents and his sister. One day he wakes up transformed into a "monstrous insect", gets up to go to work and realizes the change in his body and his voice.
The voice tells and the movement shows the slow transformation of Grégor, the shrinking of his life until the closed doors of his room where his body deteriorates, where his spirit remains, where his memories wander.
Can we live and how can we live when space, interactions and human resources are confined, reduced, sequestered?
