This revisited tale of Cinderella addresses, with delicacy and humor, the serious and vital questions of childhood.
After Charles Perrault, the brothers Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm, Joël Pommerat revisits this mythical and popular tale. A very young girl is at the bedside of her seriously ill mother. Before dying, the mother wants to speak to her but the very young girl does not hear her words well. She understands that her mother is asking her to respect a promise: never stop thinking about her, at any moment, otherwise she would die for good... This misunderstanding will lead the very young girl down difficult paths, especially since she will have to face her father's new wife. But we are in a tale. The very young girl will come across a fairy. She will meet a young prince. She will understand her mistakes and choose her destiny. This version of Cinderella tells us about mourning, the desire to live, the power of the imagination, the lies of adults. With delicacy and humor, she addresses the serious and vital questions of childhood.
