Espace naturel sensible du Marais du Val d'Ainan

The Val d'Ainan marshes, made up of pastures, woodlands, wet meadows and reed beds, represent an important nesting site for migratory birds. It is also the habitat of many remarkable amphibians and orchids.
Vestiges of the Ice Age, the marshes of Val d'Ainan extend over 380 hectares, between the Piedmonts of Chartreuse and Lake Paladru. They are an important nesting site for birds, such as the French frostberry, and breeding ground for amphibians. A wide variety of plants also flourishes on the site: you can observe very beautiful orchids such as the Marsh Orchid. And at nightfall, you can admire more common animals like roe deer, which likes to graze in the meadows.

The Isère Departmental Council manages this Sensitive Natural Area. In collaboration with the municipalities of Chirens and Massieu, private landowners and users, a number of objectives have been defined:
– to preserve and reinforce the wetland character of the marsh
– improve the naturalness of the Ainan
– to conserve and expand wet peat meadows
– to conserve and promote populations of butterflies, amphibians, dragonflies, birds and fish.

The thematic trail, 1800 meters long, allows you to explore the site with your family in complete freedom.
