La Vallée de la Fure

And in the middle flows a river… the Fure, which rises in Lake Paladru and nestles in the hollow of a wooded valley.

The shaded and refreshing path reveals a little-known side of Rives and offers a peaceful immersion close to this waterway which has provided the wealth of the region with its many mills, forges, paper mills, etc.

This 25km river offers numerous environmental and historical points of interest. Bordered by meadows and wetlands, it serves as a wildlife corridor between Lake Paladru and the Isère Valley. Its artisanal, industrial, and working-class history is very rich, dating back to the Middle Ages and continues today with the Bonpertuis Steelworks. This route will also allow you to admire the Pont du Boeuf viaduct, inaugurated on July 12, 1857, which stands 45m high with its 16 arches in the center.
At the end of the walk, take advantage of the orientation table to contemplate the view over the Chartreuse, Belledonne and Vercors mountain ranges.

Tips and Suggestions

A must-see! Look up at the Pont-du-Boeuf railway viaduct, which crosses La Fure at 45 m high and 275 m long, connecting Rives and Réaumont. Opened in 1857, it was a technical feat at the time, with its 16 magnificent arches.
