Le vallon de la Roize
Seemingly peaceful, the La Roize torrent is one of the most powerful in the massif, a testament to the spectacular work of erosion. From the dam, embark on a true journey back in time, to when the road leading to the Col de la Placette did not yet exist.
The path then leads to the hamlet of "L'Ancienne Église" (The Old Church), before continuing along a balcony overlooking the gorge. The view of the jagged cliffs of the Saut de la Roize waterfall offers a breathtaking spectacle, just before fording the stream. The route then continues in the shade of the undergrowth, on comfortable paths, before opening onto the vast meadows of La Rigonnière, until it reaches the dam again, the starting point of this beautiful nature getaway.
Voreppe is home to an artists' association (Atout A Z'art) that creates artworks in the natural surroundings of the Roize river. The hike described here will offer the opportunity to admire some of these pieces, including the dam at the starting point.
