Crossing the road (at the start of the route, depending on the parking side). Passage of lapiaz (geological formation with a crack 50cm wide to step over). Risk of falling: presence of a handrail on a descent in the forest with weathered rocks therefore potentially slippery. Risk of falling: edge of cliff at the top of the Rocher de la Garde Section of a road without a shoulder (100m to be covered along the D520 at the level of the Chemin des Chèvres)

A multi-atmosphere itinerary: confined in the box trees, mysterious in the forest, panoramic at the top... A detour to the top of the Rocher de la Garde offers a beautiful panorama of the surrounding towns.

After passing a dense boxwood forest, the hike continues with a descent to the hamlet of La Maladière, near which you can observe the Chapelle de la Madeleine. The name of this hamlet, far from the village, was the place of isolation of lepers in a maladrerie founded in 1282 by the Counts of Savoy, then ceded to the Carthusians of Currière in July 1315 by the Comte Amédée V of Savoy. It died out in 1614. The path continues along the edge of the forest, then crossing it to return to your starting point.

Additional information: Not recommended on wet ground or in case of rain. Not recommended for beginners. Possible departure from the village of Saint-Etienne de Crossey. Shops in the village.
