Itinéraire vélo : La Belle Via – Étape 6 – Grenoble > Vinay
Surrounded by the massifs of Belledonne, Chartreuse, Oisans and Vercors, the city of Grenoble offers a pleasant living environment and enough to fuel crazy desires for getaways as soon as the weather is suitable.

Leaving Grenoble, you'll take a peaceful, shaded greenway through a wild landscape, offering breathtaking views of the Isère River and the white cliffs of the Vercors. Follow the wooded banks of the Isère and discover the river islands where numerous bird species nest. Take a break at the Moirans-Voironnais rest area to observe them. Another perk for food-loving cyclists: you'll also be cycling through the heart of Europe's largest walnut grove. And the Grand Séchoir, a museum dedicated to walnuts, is the endpoint of your ride… perfect for replenishing your omega-3s!
Step-by-step guide
This portion begins with a greenway which runs along the Isère along the towpaths for approximately 35 km. This section of La Belle Via presents no difficulty, the route being entirely safe and flat. Near Saint-Gervais, the greenway ends at the bridge marked by a barrier. At the bridge, turn right for 6 km, the difference in altitude is significant. The first 500 meters are done on a busy road on a cycle lane; thereafter the route is on a low-traffic road. From Saint Gervais to Vinay, the route is ascending. For less experienced riders, electrical assistance is strongly recommended.
