La Valdolac
A beautiful getaway between Lake Paladru and the Ainan Valley, with views of some remarkable buildings (Grange de Louisias, Château de Longpra). You will follow the natural area of the Marais de Chirens and end on the shores of Lake Paladru.
From Charavines this loop takes you into Valdaine to return to Lake Paladru via the Rivoires valley and the Bilieu hillsides.
You climb quickly towards Louisias, from where you'll catch a glimpse of the thatched roof of the iconic barn of the same name. Opposite you, the medieval keep of Clermont Castle stands out against the sky. The pleasant descent to Chirens will lead you, after the village, to the Chirens marshland nature reserve and its observation point by the roadside. You'll then take small roads winding at the foot of the first slopes of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park. After passing through St-Geoire en Valdaine, the village with seven castles, and gaining a little altitude, you'll descend the rather steep slope of a wild valley to Massieu. From there, you'll reach St-Sulpice des Rivoires via another, gentler, verdant valley.
The panoramic route will then take you back via Montferrat to the heights of the lake at the level of the village of Bilieu, which offers beautiful views. To end this escapade, you will return by the greenway and the Bois d'Amour in complete safety to enjoy the blue waters of the lake.
