N°5 – Plaine de Blaune
This 15 km circuit is ideal for beginners who are discovering the joys and difficulties of mountain biking: small climbs, false flats and stony descents. Beginners are advised to get off their bikes on steep and stony paths.
Departing from the Charavines Tourist Office, this circuit offers a diversity of country landscapes and rural life. In good weather, you can admire the Mont Blanc and the Chartreuse. A break at the Grange Dîmière allows you to regain your strength. Former dependency of the Carthusian monastery of the Sylve Bénite, this building dates from 1655. At that time being used to collect the harvests and the royalties in kind for the monks, the barn imposes itself by its vast proportions. Its masterful frame will surprise you.
Tips and Suggestions
From May 1st to the end of September, the Grange Dîmière is open, contemporary art exhibitions are programmed, and admission is free.
The Natura Vélo mountain biking school/cycling center offers mountain bike rentals, guided tours, and sales. Natura Vélo is located opposite the Tourist Office. A bike wash and inflation station is located in front of Natura Vélo; tokens are available for purchase at Natura Vélo and the Tourist Office.
